La Shonda Tyree began creating specialty soaps in September of 2001,
she had no idea that she was following in some very special footsteps.
“Later,” she explains, “I learned that I was carrying
on a family tradition of making hand-made soap. My grandmother, Fannie
Logan, of South Boston, Virginia used to make hand-made, or ‘lye’
soap, as it was commonly known.” Today, nearly three years later,
La Shonda has expanded her borders by branching out into a booming
beauty market with a full line of bath and body products. “Nyah”
(nee-yah) means purpose, and for La Shonda, it’s all about “beauty
with a purpose”—providing quality skin care that every
